Make Perfect Silver Dollar Pancakes and More, December 15, 2009 By This review is from: Nordic Ware Scandinavian Silver Dollar Pancake Pan (Kitchen) Lighter than a cast iron pan but with substantial weight to conduct heat evenly, this Nordic Ware Silver Dollar Pancake pan makes quite attractive small pancakes. The round indentations have a 3 1/4 inch diameter and are 1/4 inch deep. Regular pancake batter works fine and turning them is easy even if they puff up quite high, just don't overload each compartment - about 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoon of batter is plenty.
There is only one recipe included with the pan - Buttermilk Pancakes - so if specialty pancakes are desired, recipes will need to be obtained elsewhere (many are available on-line.) I've used the pan for blueberry, sweet potato and sour dough pancakes with great success. And, as with all non-stick pans, do not use metal utensils or harsh scouring pads on the surface - and be sure to keep the heat medium-low, never on high. And, although the pan is non-stick, brush with oil before each use.
